WHAT OUR CLASSES COVER
“The goal is to teach students to draw and paint any topic realistically in a variety of art media.”
Use of art materials in class is included in monthly fees.
Part 1
Drawing
•Students learn to use graded graphite pencils; charcoal pencils, -sticks and -powder, plus art tools specific to graphite and charcoal, including paper specific to graphite and charcoal.
•Proper tool handling, proper observation skills, realistic proportions, perspective, shading, composition.
•Still life, landscape, portrait, close-ups.
Part 2
Colour drawing
•Students learn to use oil-based colour pencils; soft pastel sticks and pencils, plus art tools specific to colour pencils and pastels, including paper specific to colour pencils and pastels.
•Realistic colour theory, combination of colours, layering techniques of colours to mix new colours or slightly change colours, shading techniques with colour.
•Still life, landscape, portrait, close-ups.
Part 3
Painting
•Students learn to use watercolour pencils; watercolour paints; acrylics, plus art tools specific to water based paint media, including watercolour paper and canvas.
•Mixing of colours, combining of colours, shading with colours, washes, layering adding details, adding backgrounds for realistic paintings.
•Still life, landscape, portrait, close-ups.
